Stress management programme

Stress all in the mind?

Bust stress at source and keep it at bay

Is your life like a rubber band...?   How long can you keep it stretched?

  • Do you work in a high-pressure environment?
  • How much of your stress is self-imposed?
  • Do you feel in control or like you cant cope?
  • Could you benefit from some stress management exercise?

Stress management exercise is essential if you want to remain effective at what you do, enjoy a balanced life and avoid poor health. Whilst stress is not something we can avoid, it is something we can prevent and control because part of our stress response is to do with the way that we think.

What are the facts?

Stress is a huge challenge accounting for a loss of approximately 12.5 million at work each year (source: Health & Safety Executive).

According to research from the Personnel Today magazine, which surveyed 700 Senior HR Practitioners and 2000 employees, the findings are as follows:

  • 11% of absence is attributed to stress
  • 52% say stress is on the increase
  • 60% claim stress is damaging staff retention
  • 83% think stress is harming productivity

More importantly, stress has a negative impact on your physical and mental wellbeing. About half a million people in the UK experience work-related stress at a level they believe has made them ill (source: HSE research).

What does all this mean?

- Stress is an expensive problem for organisations.

- Stress cannot be ignored.

And the good news..?

There is not one specific cause of stress, only a persons reaction to a condition, situation or event. So, its not what happens to you, its your response to it, that makes the difference.

Whys that good news?

The one thing you can control is how you respond to events. As Stephen Covey says, as humans we are response-able we have the freedom to plan and choose our response (unlike animals who are programmed to simply react to events).

What kind of stress management exercise do you offer?

Our training regime is based on our firm belief that you can change the way you think and therefore behave as a result of new insights. The workout will be designed to stretch and test your current thinking patterns to see if there is a different way for you to respond to the challenges at work.

  • You will discover how to eliminate stress at source i.e. by controlling your thinking; managing your mindset.
  • You will also explore various coping strategies that, with practice, will result in you being able to better manage excessive work-related pressures to prevent them converting to stress in the first place.

What are the likely benefits from this type of workout?

  • More mental energy to handle challenges and pressures at work
  •  A more relaxed and proactive workforce
  • Greater recognition of the symptoms of stress in oneself and others (and therefore more timely, appropriate action)
  •
  • More accountability taken for actions and choices
  • Better handling of workplace pressure to prevent it converting to stress
  • A more balanced life
  • Better control of your stress response.

For the sake of your organisations health as well as your own, be proactive and take action.
